A small, idyllic island with lovely beaches, great snorkelling and beautiful coral gardens.  Komandoo is a resort for adults, no children under the age of 12 are allowed on the island.  It is a peaceful island with a very laid back ambience and natural Maldivian character.  The food is excellent and staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful.  A popular island with our clients, many of whom return year after year for this impressive package at a reasonable price.

The Island

Komandoo is a small island measuring just 500 meters long and 100 meters wide, with a total of 69 room (14 of which are Water Villas).

It boasts a beautiful turquoise lagoon, a magnificent house reef with superb snorkelling and idyllic white sand banks at each end of the island.  The vegetation on the island  is tropical with a beautiful 40-year old coconut plantation being the highlight.  The Public areas are all built in picturesque Maldivian style, with thatched roofs and exquisite furniture.

Komandoo is perfectly situated in a channel opening, which makes it very interesting for divers and snorkelers.  Expect to see Turtles, Mantas, Sharks and Rays.  Sitting on the “Kandu Bar” terrace, it is often possible to see a school of dolphins playing as they pass by. The reef is easily accessible from the beach and has some of the finest coral gardens we have seen in the Maldives.

Accommodation is all detached, with the beach villas dotted around the beach perimeter and the cluster of water villas in the turquoise lagoon accessed by a decked walkway off one end of the island.  Villas are built of wood and have a natural, stylish décor with modern amenities.  Our particular favourite is the Jacuzzi Beach Villa which has a wonderful open private garden with jacuzzi tub.  All villas have a comfortable wooden deck area with furniture to relax and admire views of the Indian Ocean.

Being an adults only island, this is an ideal choice of resort for couples looking to relax in privacy or for Honeymoon couples.

Transfer

Komandoo is located at the top of the Lhaviyani Atoll, about 130 kilometers north of Male’ International Airport. The transfer is a scenic 40 minute seaplane flight over the North Male’ and Lhaviyani Atolls.

This offers breathtaking views of reefs and lagoons and their multiple shades of blue and aquamarine, before bringing you to the landing platform at Komandoo.

The Company therefore reserves the right to change the description of any flight and/or ground service before you book, in which case you will be told before a confirmation invoice is issued.

” Packages”: Occasionally due to reasons beyond the Company’s control, it may be necessary to amend the flights and/or other services which make up a package booking after it has been confirmed. Such changes are considered to be either “major” or “minor”. A major change is one made before departure that involves a change of UK departure airport (except between Heathrow and Gatwick), a difference of more than 24 hours in departure from the UK, change in your resort area overseas, or a change of accommodation to a lower classification than that booked. You must inform the Company of your decision as soon as possible after receiving notification (and in any event within 7 days). Compensation is dependent on the period before scheduled departure within which a major change is notified. Compensation per person: Over 56 days: NIL 56-29 days GBP20.00 28-15 days GBP30.00 14 days GBP40.00 Note: In all cases the Company’s liability is limited to the rates of compensation listed above. 5. Cancellation by the Company
” Packages”: The Company reserves the right to withdraw or cancel the service on offer. In addition, unless the cancellation has been caused by “force majeure” (defined in Clause 6 below) compensation will be paid on the scale set out in Clause 4 above. The Company will never cancel a package within 30 days of departure except for reasons of “force majeure” (see Clause 6).

6. Force Majeure
(a) “Force Majeure”: includes war, threat of war, riot, civil disobedience or strife, industrial dispute, terrorist activity, natural or industrial disaster, fire, adverse weather conditions, level of water in rivers, technical or maintenance problems with transfer, unforeseen operational decisions of air carriers such as changes of schedule, or any unforeseeable or unavoidable event beyond the Company’s control.

7. Pricing Policy:
All fares and other information given are subject to availability. Once a confirmation invoice has been issued the price shown on that invoice may only vary as outlined below or if you amend your booking (see Clause 3).
” Packages”: Prices may only be changed to reflect government action, increase in transportation costs (e.g. airfares and cost of fuel), changes in dues and taxes (including VAT) or fees payable for services (e.g. landing taxes or embarkation/disembarkation fees at ports and airports) or to reflect fluctuations in exchange rates. 8. Dispatch of Travel Documents/e-tickets:
Where paper tickets are required:
Travel documents are usually ready for dispatch to you at least two weeks before departure, but cannot be released until we have received full payment (in cleared funds) from you for your package holiday or other holiday arrangement.

For bookings made where the departure date is within two weeks of booking, we may recommend a ticket on departure at additional cost to yourself. Please note: if you do not have an e-ticket and documents are sent by registered post to your home or place of work, a signature will be required by the post office at the time of delivery. It is the passenger’s responsibility to ensure that a signature can be obtained on delivery. If you are not travelling on an e-ticket your documentation should be delivered a minimum of 7 days prior to departure, should you not receive your documents, please call for assistance.

We do not accept responsibility for documents mislaid or lost by the Royal Mail. If your documents become lost or stolen, it will be necessary for you to complete an indemnity form and send it to us so that we can pass it to the airline or supplier concerned. The terms and conditions of the relevant airline and/or supplier shall govern the re-issue or lost or stolen tickets. Some airlines or suppliers are prepared to issue replacement tickets immediately, (but may impost a fee for this), others may require full payment again before they will issue re-placement tickets, (they will then usually refund the amount paid for the original travel documents at a later date, which for some airlines can be up to 12months). You shall be responsible for paying any fees (including our administration fee), losses and/or expenses incurred in respect of the re-issue of lost or stolen tickets.

e-tickets: Please note, effective from 1 April 2004 it is mandatory for customers to have an e-ticket on all routes where e-ticket is available. Customers do not have the option to select a paper ticket prior to travel or for a paper ticket to be made available at the airport from this date, where the route is an e-ticket route and an e-ticket is applicable.

9. Complaints:
If a problem occurs, whilst you are abroad, you must inform the relevant supplier (e.g. hotel, tour operator, airline) immediately so that the matter can be put right. If the supplier cannot resolve the problem to your satisfaction, at the time, you must also contact the Company immediately by telephoning +44 (0)1670 510 580, so that the Company is given the opportunity to help. In the event that a complaint cannot be resolved at the time, you must write within 28 days of your return to the Company quoting your original booking reference and giving all relevant information. Failure to take these steps will hinder the Company’s ability to resolve the problem and/or investigate it fully and in consequence, any right to compensation you may have will be extinguished or, at the very least, substantially reduced.

10. Passports, Visas and Health Requirements:
Some information about passport, visa and health requirements may be shown on your confirmation invoice. Clients not holding passports marked “British Citizen” must check applicable requirements with their Embassy, Consulate or the British Foreign Office. Please ensure that you are aware of all passport and visa requirements and that you allow adequate time to obtain them. Please note that many countries require that your passport is valid for six months beyond the period of your stay. Requirements can change and it is your responsibility to ensure that you comply with applicable passport, visa and health requirements and take all necessary documents with you to gain access to any country or region to which you make travel arrangements. If you fail to do so, you will be solely responsible for any cost, loss or damage which you or the Company incurs as a result of your failure. For regular updates on visa requirements or any conflicts in particular regions, see the Foreign & Commonwealth Office website.

All children must have their own passports.

11. Behaviour:
It is your responsibility to ensure that you and the members of your party do not behave in a way which causes offence or danger to others or which risks damage to property belonging to others. In such circumstances all suppliers (e.g. hotel managers, airline pilots) and the Company have the right to terminate arrangements made on your behalf, in which case the Company’s responsibility to you ceases immediately and there can be no refunds, no payment of compensation and no reimbursement of any cost or expenses you may incur as a result. Further, you will be liable to reimburse the Company for any expenses whatsoever it incurs as a result of your behaviour.

12. Suppliers’ Conditions:
Please note that, as between you and any of the suppliers whose services form part of your booking, the suppliers’ standard terms and conditions will apply. This is particularly important in the case of “other holiday arrangements” where the company acts only as a booking agent between you and the relevant suppliers. The suppliers’ standard conditions may limit or exclude liability, often in accordance with international conventions.

13. Flights:
Please note that a flight described as “direct” will not necessarily be non-stop. All departure/arrival times are provided by the airlines concerned and are estimates only. They may change due to air traffic control restrictions, weather conditions, operational/maintenance requirements and the requirement for passengers to check in on time. The Company is not liable if there is any change to a departure/ arrival time previously given to you or shown on your ticket. It is for this reason that all clients are required to reconfirm their flights, with the airline, 72 hours prior to departure. The Company is also unable to make any special arrangements for you if you are delayed; these matters are in the sole discretion of the airline concerned. Your ticket is your document of travel and the information on the ticket is deemed correct unless the Company is advised by you within 72 hours of receipt.

14. Special Requests:
If you have any special requests, these will be passed on to the relevant supplier but cannot be guaranteed by the Company.

15. Financial Security:
To ensure that you would be refunded and/or repatriated in the unlikely event of the Company’s insolvency the Company is licensed and bonded. It is licensed by the Civil Aviation Authority (ATOL No: 6926). In the unlikely event of our insolvency, the CAA will ensure that you are not stranded abroad and will arrange to refund any money you have paid to us for an advance booking. For further information, visit the ATOL website at www.atol.org.uk. Note however that if a valid scheduled ticket is despatched by the end of the working day following the day of booking then this would constitute a “ticket provider” sale and therefore not be covered by our ATOL.

16. Departure Taxes:
It is not always possible to include all departure taxes on your ticket – in some cases departure taxes must be paid locally and these are payable to the Government of the country departed and are non-refundable.

17. Pre Travel Advice:
The Foreign and Commonwealth Travel Advice Unit may have issued information about your holiday destination. You are advised to check this information on BBC (Ceefax) page 470 or on the Internet under the address www.fco.gov.uk. Alternatively, you can contact the ABTA information Department on 0906820520 (calls charged at 50p/minute).

18. We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance for your whole journey.

19.The contract constituted by the Company’s acceptance of your booking subject to these conditions, shall constitute the entire agreement between you and the Company in relation to the relevant booking and shall exclude all other terms and conditions (except for the relevant suppliers’ conditions and any applicable international conventions) and shall supersede all prior communication or information provided.

Located on South Nilandhe Atoll, Angsana Velavaru is a relatively remote island, some 150 kms south of Male. It is one of only a few resorts islands in the entire atoll, which means that the natural environment of the neighbouring islands is virtually untouched and that the dive sites are strikingly beautiful. The island itself is particularly attractive with a pristine natural environment. A fairly new addition to the resort is a collection of  33 remote water villas. A first in the Maldives – the exclusive standalone collection of InOcean Villas is located one kilometre away from the island. Perched on the edge of the deep blue next to the coral reef, they enjoy considerate touches set amidst contemporary comforts in this stylish getaway.

The Island

Small in size with lovely wide beaches, lots of mature vegetation and a wonderful large lagoon displaying every shade of turquoise. The buildings are well designed and blend well into the natural surroundings. The Spa is a feature of Velavaru and has several treatment areas, plunge pools and a small fitness room. The island atmosphere is peaceful and tranquil. For those staying on the island, there are several patches of coral for snorkelling close to the shore which will be enough to satisfy beginners. The main house reef however is too far to reach by swimming. To compensate for this, a complimentary shuttle boat operates at regular intervals from the jetty to the reef edge. The new InOcean Villas are located one kilometre off the island and lie adjacent to the house reef.

Dolphins can often be seen in this area. Indeed, when we visited Velavaru, several dolphins swam alongside our Dhoni as we approached the island.

The standard of cuisine at Angsana is excellent. Meals are mainly buffet style with a wide choice that will satisfy most tastes.

Vakarufalhi has a lot to offer – great beaches, excellent snorkelling on the house reef just off the beach, spacious rooms and a natural, lush interior. For many years, the island has held a great reputation with those who visit the Maldives regularly. We loved the informal atmosphere combined with great food, accommodation, beaches and marine life.  The island was redeveloped in 2009 and relaunched as TClub Vakarufalhi. The main change is the addition of 25 Water Villas, although the beach villas have also been refurbished and a new Duniye Spa has been built over the water.  Since the re-launch, the resort is receiving excellent feedback – 50 out of 73 rate as ‘Excellent’ currently on Tripadvisor.

The Island

Located in the south-east of Ari Atoll, Vakarufalhi is a fine looking resort. Small, almost round with perfect beaches and a very good house reef encircling the island. The coral reef is situated at different distances from the shore on either side of theisland, allowing for swimming and sport in a wonderful lagoon on one side, where the shore slopes gently away, while on the other the reef is within easy swimming distance.

The buildings are well designed, are of a high quality and feature natural materials. The Beach Villas, which are mainly detached are particularly large and were completely refurbished in 2009. The Water Villas are modern and a new addition to the island when it re-launched in December 2009. There is plenty of vegetation, including a large number of tall, mature palms. This is an unpretentious resort offering quality facilities in a beautiful, natural surrounding.

Since relaunching as TClub Vakarufalhi, the resort has become primarily Italian focussed.  Expect to find at least 50% of guests to be Italian with the remaining being a mix of British, French, Japanese, Swiss and German.

The brand TClub stands for Tea and Culture. Experts regularly visit the resort and provide information ranging from the local Marine Life to Culture and Astronomy. It has nothing to do with the existence of a Clubbing type environment!

In an attempt to contain the extent of sand movement around the island during the monsoons, coral ‘groyne’ walls have been built in the sea and are visible during low tide.  Whilst this may seem like an unwelcome distraction on first arrival, we did find that they were soon forgotten about and did not detract from our enjoyment of the island.

An island for those who need a little more going on. As well as good beaches and snorkelling it has a sports centre and a number of restaurants to choose from.  The accommodation is similar in style to the neighbouring up-market resort of Soneva Fushi, a simple, rustic feel with lots of natural colours.  The price tag however is much more affordable.  The Deluxe Villas offer a sitting area that can provide an additional sleeping area for 2 children, making Reethi Beach an ideal choice for families.

The Island

In Baa Atoll, north west of Male International airport. Reethi Beach is on the lush Fonimagoodhoo Island, surrounded by a beautiful lagoon and white, sandy beach. The island is just 600 m x 200 m and is reached by a scenic 35 minutes (124 km) seaplane flight. The wonderful house reef is some 50 to 150 metres from the island.  There are 110 rooms in total, including 30 water villas.

With a choice of 5 restaurants and an indoor sports complex, Reethi Beach will appeal to those who prefer a little more going on.  However, the island still retains a natural Maldivian feel, complemented by the chic, rustic style of the accommodation which is very similar in feel to its upmarket neighbour, Soneva Fushi.  Having undergone refurbishment in 2010, rooms are in particularly good condition.  The All Inclusive option at Reethi Beach offers particularly good value compared to other Maldives resorts.

There is an excellent beach all the way down the west side of the island, where the Reethi Villas are, and an even wider bulge of fine sand at the southern end, where the Deluxe Villas are. At the other end is a smaller bulge behind the semicircle of  water bungalows.

Reethi Beach is one of the most environmentally friendly islands in the Maldives. The interior of the island is left as undisturbed as possible, no groynes or walls have been built and there is no pumping of sand to supplement the beach.  It is claimed that island energy consumption per client is a quarter of the industry average.

Transfer

By seaplane, taking around 35 minutes.  Transfers are operated by Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) from their seaplane terminal located a short distance from the international airport and reached by a frequent mini bus service which is free of charge.  Seaplanes operate according to international arrival and departures at the various resorts – there is no fixed timetable.  As seaplanes are only able to operate during daylight hours, you will be required to overnight at one of the hotels in Male if you arrive late in the afternoon.  The first seaplane departure from Male is around 6am, the last around 4pm.  The timing of the seaplane transfer from resort back to Male will be advised to you locally, the night prior to departure.

Please note: If your international flight is delayed and you miss your seaplane departure, you may need to stay the night in Male at an additional cost. Your transfers would be arranged the following day on the earliest possible seaplane but again at an additional cost since your original seaplane is then treated as a no-show. Guests will also not be refunded the night unused on their island resort.

Accomodation

All rooms have one king size (2m x 2m) or twin beds, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, IDD telephone, mini bar, safe, satellite TV, hair dryer, hot and cold water.

Facilities

House reef: is on a channel along the western side of the island and is easily accessible from the beach with a number of cut throughs for entry and exit. It harbours a wealth of marine life and will satisfy snorkelers of most levels. During the northeast monsoon (May – September) it is not uncommon to see Whale Sharks and Mantas.

Diving: The dive centre managed by Sea-Explorer is a PADI 5 Star School offering educational, recreational and nitrox diving with courses for beginners and advanced divers. There is the option of  diving at the house reef in addition to the many different boat dives – early morning dives, morning dives, two tank dives, afternoon dives, night dives, plus snorkelling trips. Spoken languages: English, German, French and Japanese. Some of the best diving in the Maldives is to be found here in the relatively unexplored Baa Atoll. The majority of dive sites are reached within 20 minutes by boat – the furthest being just under an hour. Over a third of the diving is on Thilas (submerged reefs), some of which are split by canyons and even by Maldivian standards, are literally teeming with fish and under the overhangs, sea fans and black corals are found. It is not uncommon to see Sharks, Barracudas, large Groupers, Napoleon Wrasse and Mantas (in season); The Outer Reefs of the north-eastern Baa Atoll slope gently down into the blue and one often comes across large Turtles and Eagle Rays, incredibly rare pink fire coral, fantastic soft corals and much larger fish in the blue. The Island

The island is one of the largest in the Maldives being 1,400 metres long and almost 400 metres wide. The sheer size of the island allows enjoyable exploration by bicycle or on foot. However, great care has been taken not to over develop the island and only 65 villas have been built. The resort is hidden in the dense, unmanicured vegetation of the island and has a natural yet luxurious style, where guests are guaranteed seclusion. Surrounding the island is a shallow lagoon enclosed by a coral reef, providing crystal clear turquoise waters, which are ideal for snorkelling and a wide variety of water sports.
This resort was opened in October 1995 with the concept of “Luxuriously back to nature, Robinson Crusoe style”. This is the original and undoubtedly still one of the best “No News-No Shoes” resorts in the Maldives.

    Transfer

A 25 minute scenic seaplane ride from Male international airport. You will be met at the airport by a Soneva Fushi representative and taken the short distance to the VIP departure lounge at the seaplane airport for your onward flight.

    The Island

The management greet all arrivals from the seaplane and immediately make guests feel relaxed and welcome on this idyllic island. Nothing is too much trouble to ensure that your time on Mirihi is filled with the happiest of memories. The individual attention to good service is evident at evening meals when the management casually drift through the restaurant, stopping to chat with guests to ensure that everything is to their satisfaction. Mirihi is towards the top end of the price scale but for those who are looking for a small, beautiful, exclusive island with first rate snorkelling, it takes a lot of beating.

It is a small sized island, 350 m long and 50 m wide and takes around 15 minutes to walk around the perimeter. The island is well tended and has a stylish, minimalist feel to it. Decked walkways link together the main public areas which comprise of the reception area, boutique shop, bar and main restaurant. The main jetty leading out over the turquoise ocean from reception takes you to the intimate a la carte restaurant ‘Muraka’. This is also the setting for sunset cocktails on the outdoor terrace. Gaze back over this tiny idyllic island as the setting sun slowly turns the vista through various shades of pink and you will find yourself truly in paradise. The beaches are wide and of fine talcum powder sand with the occasional sun lounger and parasol dotted about. With only 36 rooms in total, the beaches are never crowded – it is more likely that you won’t see anyone else at all!

    Transfer

Located in South Ari Atoll, transfer to Mirihi is by seaplane and takes 25 minutes.

    Accomodation

Accommodation here is primarily over the sea with 30 water villas and just 6 beach villas. Both are built in the same style which is high quality, fairly modern and even a little funky. The beach villas have a part open giffilli style bathroom while the water villas have a glorious wet room with glass doors opening directly onto the private decking. This is stylish, understated luxury. We particularly like the fact that a number of the water villas are located just a few metres off the beach which for us means that it is still possible to feel very much part of the island itself.

All accommodation is of a very high standard whilst retaining a natural look due partly to the thatched roofs. High quality timber has been extensively used to furnish the villas and the decor consists of pristine whites complimented with earthy tones. The bathroom fittings are modern and stylish, the wet room in the water villas is particularly impressive whilst the Beach Villas enjoy the traditional ‘giffilli’, part open style bathroom. Complimentary tea & coffee is provided for use in the drinks machine whilst there is also a stocked mini bar. All rooms are very private and have air conditioning, hot and cold water, CD system, safe and IDD telephone. Two wooden sun loungers and armchairs, a small table and parasol are provided on every verandah. The water villas have the facility to light up the surrounding water at night so that it is possible to observe the fish whilst enjoying a nightcap on the decking. The maximum occupancy in any villa is 3 people with the addition of 1 extra bed.

    Facilities

House reef: The house reef is superb and close to the shore and/or water villas for the majority of the time. It is only the last third of the reef which drifts too far away from the island to be accessible. You will be snorkelling around 15 metres from the shore and at times, virtually outside the water villas. The reef itself is in good condition and the marine life is abundant – some of the very best we have seen in the Maldives. Infact many belief this to be in the top 3 Housereefs in the Maldives.

Dive Centre: Ocean Pro operates a full programme of courses and boat dives to local sites including one of the best Manta points in the country.

Spa: The excellent Duniye Spa will aid your relaxation at Mirihi in a delightful manner. A full range of treatments and therapies are available which can be booked either individually or as a pamper package.

Gym: For those desperate for some exercise whilst on this paradise island, a well equipped albeit small, air conditioned gym is available and of course there is always table tennis….

Child Minding: This can normally be arranged in advance with a member of staff for an additional charge.

Shop: There is a well stocked boutique selling souvenirs.

    Dining

Food is superb, high quality with plenty of variety and in keeping with the rest of this resort, very stylishly presented.

The main restaurant is the Dhonveli Restaurant where a different themed buffet is on offer over the course of a week. Examples include the fabulous Maldivian night, Mediterranean night and Seafood night. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed with sand floors adding to the feeling of casual elegance.

The Muraka Restaurant is the a-la-carte venue, located over the water and reached via the lantern lit main jetty. Fine dining at its very best is on offer here as well as a number of speciality nights including the Lobster Dinner – a delicious 4 course Lobster menu and the culinary highlight: Wine & Dine at Muraka Restaurant where a series of freshly prepared, tantalising dishes are accompanied by carefully selected matching wines. A gourmet’s delight. The restaurant itself features a central open, illuminated viewing area so the passing marine life can be observed throughout your evening! The Muraka is also the setting for sunset cocktails, having the perfect position looking back across the idyllic island of Mirihi.

The Anba Bar is located next to the main restaurant and spills out onto a lovely decked area with comfy chairs to relax and enjoy the views over the beach and Indian ocean.  A variety of snacks are available in addition to the full range of liquid refreshments.

Bed & Breakfast, Half Board and Full Board are available at Mirihi. Guests booked on Half or Full Board wishing to dine in the a-la-carte Muraka restaurant will receive a deduction of $20 per person off their bill.

Dhonveli Restaurant All meals are buffet style, extensive and of excellent quality.
Daily changing themed buffets for evening meal.
Muraka Restaurant For a la carte dining. Located over the water. Also a good venue for a pre-dinner drink whilst watching the sun set.
Anba Bar Serving coffee, cocktails, beer, soft drinks etc. & a selection of bar snacks

    Recreation

Diving: the excellent Ocean Pro operate a full programme of courses from beginner to advanced and boat dives to over 40 local sites. The location of Mirihi is particularly well placed for one of the best Manta points in the country as well as extensive thila dives and whale shark tracking sites.

Snorkelling: is a delight – it doesn’t come much better than this. The reef is fantastic and surrounds around 75% of the island. The steps down from the water villas lead almost directly onto the reef itself so access is very easy. There is an abundance of marine life and no strong currents to be concerned about.

Water Sports: the water sports centre offers complimentary wind surfing and canoeing in the large sandy lagoon.  There are no motorised watersports on Mirihi to disrupt the tranquillity.

Fishing: deep-sea-fishing trips can be organised should you wish to try your luck catching a Sailfish, Marlin or Tuna.

Excursions: there are a range of excursions to choose from including Island Hopping, a visit to a local cultural Island, a Sunset Cruise, Snorkeling Safaris, or spending time on a nearby, deserted tropical island.

Entertainment: There is no organised entertainment, save for the Divers night, Beach Cinema night and weekly management cocktail party to which all arriving guests are invited. This is essentially a romantic island where people come for the peace and tranquillity to relax and unwind.

Spa: The excellent Duniye Spa will aid your relaxation at Mirihi in a delightful manner. A full range of treatments and therapies are available which can be booked either individually or as a pamper package.

Located in Faafu Atoll, south west of Male, Filitheyo is the only resort in this atoll. It is one of the larger islands, taking around 30 minutes to walk around the perimeter. The dense interior which is a maze of mature palm groves, makes this a particularly attractive island. There is excellent snorkelling on the house reef which is easily accessible from the beach. For the complete package of great accommodation, food and snorkelling at reasonable prices, Filitheyo is still our island of choice.

    The Island

Filitheyo is a relatively large island, measuring 900 x 300 metres and with a total of 109 Beach Villas plus 16 Water Villas. The interior is wonderfully lush with extensive mature palm groves and sandy paths criss crossing the island. The house reef is stunning and surrounds around 75% of the island with easy access from the beach. In general, the beaches at Filitheyo are wide and fine, although one side of the island has suffered a degree of erosion. The buildings are stylish and well designed, complimenting the natural feel to the island. The Family Villas are a real bonus, offering a two bedroom villa with inter-connecting door.

There are plenty of luxuries here too, providing the perfect combination of a high quality resort retaining natural charm and character. The food is certainly one of the highlights at Filitheyo. It is consistently superb with a huge selection of dishes catering for a wide range of tastes. We particularly love the various local Maldivian fish curries on offer most evenings. Desserts in the Maldives can sometimes be a disappointment: but not in Filitheyo. Fresh fruit sorbets, profiteroles, apple crumble and peanut ice cream, to name but a few, are on offer. Facilities include a very attractive infinity swimming pool with swim-up bar and sunken library where internet access can be obtained for a small charge.

Filitheyo offers excellent value for money and remains very popular with both our clients and our own Family. For high standards of food and accommodation and great snorkelling at a reasonable price, you can’t go wrong with Filitheyo.
