Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru is a gorgeous island with fantastic beaches, great snorkelling, luxurious accommodation and exceptional food. But what makes this resort unique is the island’s marine centre which raises baby green sea turtles in an effort to protect this much loved but endangered species. This is the only facility of its kind in the Maldives and guests are invited to observe the tiny baby turtles in the marine centre and the daily feeding at the turtle sanctuary by the reef. A great choice to learn more and get involved with marine conservation in the Maldives.

The Island

The island of Vabbinfaru is beautiful, ticking all the boxes for a typical, Maldivian paradise island. Measuring 250 x 220 metres and surrounded by turquoise waters, it has only 48 villas sprinkled across the lush green garden of coconut trees and indigenous blooms. Villas are designed in an unusual conical shape inspired by a nautilus shell. Interiors are luxurious whilst all buildings have thatched roofs to preserve a natural ambience. A particularly attractive feature is the private beach sala which provides a raised, shady relaxation area for guests in Beachfront Villas. My favourite spot for an afternoon siesta!

Beaches at Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru are really very good indeed, wide with powder white sand virtually right round the island. It takes around 15 minutes to walk around the perimeter of the island. Snorkelling is good too with the house reef surrounding around 50% of the island and easily accessible from a number of points on the beach. The island is visited virtually every day by a family of sting rays and a mature green sea turtle who was raised in the turtle sanctuary. The Marine Biology Lab on the island is the first of its kind to be funded and built by a private resort. Guests can join specially trained in-house divers to monitor programmes such as reef and species inventory checks, and even sponsor their own coral gardens.

Dining is a delight at Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru. We were really impressed by the main beachfront restaurant Ilaafathi which offers an enviable selection of high quality food, all beautifully presented. The selection and preparation of fresh fruit at breakfast is probably the best we have ever seen – try the Dragon Fruit – delicious! Banyan Tree’s sister island Angsana Ihuru, is located 5 minutes away and regular complimentary shuttle boats transport guests between the two islands. To extend dining options, guests can dine at Riveli restaurant or Velaavani Bar on Angsana Ihuru.

Facilities

House reef
The house reef is accessible around approximately 50% of the island. There are areas where it is close to the shore but the section next to the turtle enclosure does involve a reasonable swim from the beach. We found it to be rewarding if not spectacular. Mature green sea turtles who were once raised on the island often come back to visit, so chances of snorkelling alongside a turtle are high. Beginner snorkelling lessons and daily guided snorkeling excursions (minimum four snorkellers) are offered by the resort. Borrowing snorkeling gear including fins, masks, snorkels and life jackets are complimentary for guests. It is also possible to snorkel the house reef at Angsana Ihuru which is reached by a 5 minute complimentary boat transfer. This is definitely one of the best house reefs in the Maldives and we thoroughly recommend giving it a try.

Dive Centre
As a five-star Gold Palm Resort dive centre, Banyan Tree offers the full range of PADI courses and engages diving instructors who are highly professional, enthusiastic and PADI certified. Courses and dives are conducted in small dive groups with teaching in different languages including English, French, German and Japanese. Daily morning two-tank trips depart at 8.30am for two dives in two different locations, returning around 1pm. Dive sites are decided based on weather conditions and the experience level of the divers that day. Full day dive trips with minimum of six divers, head out for three dives at three different locations at North and South Malé Atoll, with lunch provided onboard. Private whale shark trips to South Ari Atoll are organised upon request with the Marine Centre.

Marine Centre
A Marine Biology Lab on the island is the first of its kind to be funded and built by a private resort. Guests can join specially trained in-house divers to monitor programmes such as reef and species inventory checks, and even sponsor their own coral gardens. The laboratory is equipped with instruments for research in coral biology and ecology, and green sea turtle conservation. We loved seeing the baby green sea turtles in the marine centre and then swimming out to the turtle enclosure to watch the older turtles being fed. This is a very unique experience in the Maldives. On most afternoons, a family of stingrays swims up to the beach to be cared for by conservation officers. We found this to be not only fascinating but extremely informative.

Spa
Banyan Tree Spa Vabbinfaru promises luxurious treatments, unobtrusive service, and an exclusive hideaway that has become synonymous with the Banyan Tree name. At Banyan Tree Spa Maldives, therapists bring the right balance of traditional touch and warm service to the extensive menu of tropical treatments. Luxuriate in any of the five spacious outdoor spa pavilions, each with side-by-side couple massage beds and open-air showers. Three deluxe pavilions feature exotic copper bathtubs handcrafted in Sri Lanka and private RainMist Rooms specially equipped with rain-shower and steam-mist facilities.

Gym
Located above the Marine Lab, with glass windows affording a view of the ocean, a selection of exercise machines ensures that you are not missing out on your fitness regimen. Spin, run or work on your muscles in air-conditioned comfort.

Table Tennis
A table tennis table is located outside next to the main bar.

Shop
Banyan Tree Gallery: A lifestyle retail gallery showcasing indigenous arts and crafts.

Dining

I was really impressed with the quality and range of food at Banyan Tree Vabbinfaru. Service was also excellent.

Ilaafathi
The main restaurant is a large, airy, open sided building with sand on the floor and a thatched roof. Enjoy Maldivian and international cuisine, sumptuous buffet breakfasts and superb set dinners, alongside relaxing ocean views. During the summer months the resort has a high number of oriental guests so expect delicious Japanese sushi and sashimi to also be on the menu. The selection of fresh fruit available for breakfast is the most impressive I have seen at any resort. Enjoy!

Sangu
Adjacent to Ilaafathi is open-air Sangu restaurant, which – weather permitting – opens for barbeque buffet lunches and theme night dinners under a blanket of stars.

Naiboli
Appetizing snacks and cocktails are served all day long at the open-air bar on the beach.

Private Dining
Have a romantic candlelit barbecue dinner in the intimacy of your villa or by the beach, served by your very own private chef and waiter.

Sandbank Dining
Be swept off your feet to a stunning sandbank by speedboat and be ushered to a table of gourmet delights and champagne, with only the moon and torches lighting your feast.

Angsana Ihuru
To double your culinary options, you can also dine at Riveli restaurant or Velaavani Bar on Angsana Ihuru, just a five-minute complimentary boat ride away.

Regarded by many as the supreme luxury Maldives resort, One & Only Reethi Rah cannot fail to impress. It delivers on every level from the extravagantly indulgent villas to the sensational cuisine and impeccable service. Of particular note is the dedicated kids centre which is by far the best I have ever seen and ‘Club One’, an activity area on the beach for teenagers, ensuring that all members of the family are kept entertained. The philosophy here is that anything is possible – just ask and it will be arranged. You might even spot a celebrity!

The Island

The island of Reethi Rah is virtually all man made, only 30% of the original island remains. It has been developed to create a series of twelve sweeping bays each with soft sandy beaches and a glorious clear lagoon. With a total of six kilometres of coastline and 109 acres of lush tropical forest, this is one of the largest islands in the Maldives and it takes time to understand the entirety of the resort. For an island that is predominantly man made, I was pleasantly surprised at how lush, mature and natural the island interior was. Infact, probably my favourite experience on Reethi Rah was cycling through the sandy paths that wind endlessly through the lush tropical forests. My 14 year old son also loved exploring the island on bike – every guest is provided with a bicycle.

The design of the island geography means that this is one of the most private islands in the Maldives. Each beach cove hosts a collection of villas with ample space to ensure seclusion. All villas have an ocean view, a generous private verandah and stretch of powder white sand or over water deck. Beach villas are accessed by a private entrance from the interior island path. Golf carts are available on demand for transporting guests around the island, although we preferred the option of cycling.

Dining venues at Reethi Rah are incredible. Options range from the chic Reethi restaurant with its choice of atmospheric ‘Earth’, ‘Water’ and ‘Fire’ themed rooms to Fanditha, a No News No Shoes, laid back Middle Eastern restaurant on the beach with Arabian divans and hammocks strung between the palms. The One & Only Spa is almost a resort in itself, set within its own tranquil gardens and manicured lawns and offering the very best in therapeutic and relaxation therapies. The dedicated ‘Kids Only’ clubhouse provides children with their own pool and dining areas, evening shows and all sorts of sporting activities. Teenagers aren’t forgotten at Reethi Rah – at ‘Club One’ designated staff help twelve-to-seventeen year olds make new friends from all over the world and organise a range of sporting events, nature treks, adventure programmes and local excursions. This was a big hit with my 14 year old son.

In summary, One & Only Reethi Rah delivers luxury on a grand scale with a price which certainly isn’t for the budget conscious. But what really impresses is the quality of activities and facilities aimed at younger guests, making this a top choice for a family holiday to the Maldives. Whilst the size of the island is very large for the Maldives, it does offer the opportunity to discover and explore the tropical interior on bicycles.

Transfer

One & Only Reethi Rah is located in the North of North Male Atoll. Transfer from Male airport is by luxury yacht and takes around 75 minutes. It is too far to reach by swimming from the beach but pedallos are available free of charge to reach the reef and can then be tied to a buoy. Guided house reef snorkelling is available free of charge for guests. Unfortunately it was too stormy during our stay to experience the snorkelling but I think it would be fair to say that this is not one of the main highlights of One & Only Reethi Rah.

Dive Centre
The area around One & Only Reethi Rah is rich in top quality dive sites. Thilas, giris, reefs, drop-offs, corners, channels, wrecks and a visibility of up to 50 metres make this a great place to learn and an equally rewarding centre for further exploration by qualifies divers. Within a short distance of the resort are the 1988 wreck of the Hembadu and the Rasfari Marine Protection Area, not to mention some excellent turtle and manta ray viewing. Dining

Whatever your preference, there is a dining option to suit at Reethi Rah. Whether eating in the gloriously informal Arabian Fanditha on the beach, the island chic Reethi restaurant or the contemporary Japanese Tapasake restaurant, this is dining at its very best.

Reethi Restaurant
The main restaurant, on the eastern side of the island, is set in thatched over-water pavilions. Offering a glorious fusion of Far Eastern, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines, and a cellar housing 18,000 bottles of the world’s greatest wines, this is alfresco, à la carte dining at its best. The restaurant is divided into three main themed areas: ‘Earth’, ‘Water’ & ‘Fire’ reached by an cavernous greetings hall with tapered views reaching the ocean. For wine buffs, it also features a cellar of over 18,000 bottles of the world’s great wines. We enjoyed a wonderful Italian evening which featured a fresh pasta station with accompanying sauces along with pizzas, freshly grilled meats and fish and a vast array of accompanying salads. My tagliatelle with truffle sauce was truly wonderful. Dessert is an experience in its own right. A sunken, glass walled, chiller room is dedicated to the delight of dessert – the choice is staggering. I opted for Tiramisu which was expertly created to order in the dessert chamber by the chef. Fabulous.

Tapasake
Japanese restaurants seem to be the ‘in thing’ at upscale Maldives resorts. Tapasake serves Japanese fare with a modern twist in tapas style small portions and features a selection of innovative Sake cocktails to go with it. This spectacular over-water restaurant, on the island’s western shore, provides a relaxed, romantic setting in which to sample the many
delights of modern Japanese cuisine.

Fanditha
No jacket and tie required here. No shoes either for that matter. This Middle Eastern restaurant serves healthy chargrills, salads and mezze with delicious home-made bread from the Iranian bread oven. After dinner, guests relax on inviting day beds or vast cushions scattered on Arabian rugs on the sand. You can even try one of the traditional “hubbly-bubbly” pipes!

Rah Bar
By day, Rah Bar serves delicious salads, wraps, snacks and smoothies to swimmers and sunbathers. By night, it metamorphoses into a sociable club, where the music is live and the Champagne cocktails flow. We loved the local Maldivian band whose impressive repertoire ranged from 70′s classics to the latest hits. Guests of all ages really seemed to really get into the party spirit. We couldn’t resist requesting Lady Ga-Ga’s ‘Bad Romance’ – Rah Rah, Reethi Rah!!

Villa dining
An extensive villa dining menu is available 24 hours a day. Alternatively, a team of chefs is on call for exquisite tailor-made dining in privacy.

Soneva resorts are in our opinion, unmatched in their ability to create the most stylish and luxurious living spaces which totally complement the natural beauty of the Maldives. If you are looking for a Maldivian island of pure natural perfection to simply chill and be pampered, look no further. Soneva Gili will deliver everything you dream of, and more.

The Island

Soneva Gili is instantly recognisable across North Male Atoll, its collection of wooden water villas dotted in the ocean appearing at first sight to be a slightly surreal Maldivian interpretation of Waterworld. Three wooden walkways link the idyllic small island to the breathtakingly stylish Soneva Gili Villa Suites and Residences. Beyond, suspended in the sparkling ocean and reached only by boat, are 7 Crusoe Residences and the Private Reserve, providing the ultimate in secluded luxury.

The island itself is small, around 200 x 400 metres and contains the main public areas – all accommodation is in the Water Villas. Sandy paths wind through the tropical foliage and emerge on beautiful beaches fringed by mature palms and lush foliage. Every guest is provided with a bicycle to explore the delightful island interior. Soneva have perfected the art of promoting nature at its very best and enhancing the ambience with rustic style and sophistication. The ‘No News No Shoes’ philosophy is central to the Soneva style so expect a laid back, informal feel while enjoying service and facilities of the very highest standard.

Perhaps the one disappointment at Soneva Gili is the absence of any decent snorkelling. There is a small area of coral not far from ‘One Palm Island’ where the snorkelling is OK, but it involves a reasonable swim to reach from the jetty or beach. It is possible to arrange for one of the island pontoon boats to drop you off and pick up again for those keen to explore the marine life. Local snorkelling safaris are organised to compensate for this.

Transfer

Soneva Gili is located in North Male Atoll and is very convenient to the international airport being a mere 20 minutes transfer by speedboat. You will be met outside the arrivals hall by linen clad Soneva Gili staff who will escort you the short distance to the speedboat launch. Transfers can be organised at any time of day or night thus providing maximum flexibility to coordinate with international flight departures.

Accomodation

A total of 45 indulgent water villas, divided into five categories. Each villa has not only been designed and built with the utmost attention to detail, but is also environmentally-friendly and reflects the harmony of life by the water’s edge. Each has its own private water garden and sun decks, and the bathrooms have a separate shower accessed along an open-air walkway. I was impressed to find that excess electrical cable in our villa had been cleverly hidden in small linen pouches – that is definitely attention to detail and indicative of what makes Soneva Gili so addictive.

Soneva Gili Villa Suites (210 sq.m.)

Accessed via the wooden walkway, the spacious villas are beautifully appointed and flow effortlessly into a series of living spaces all with fantastic views over the sparkling ocean. The first floor decked terrace complete with daybed and dining furniture is probably the best place in the world that I have enjoyed breakfast. The villa specifications are:

Spa
The Six Senses Spa at Soneva is quite simply magnificent. My massage was the best I have ever experienced and the first floor relation area overlooking the ocean is a delight. On offer is a wide range of holistic therapies and programmes with internationally trained therapists, wellness instructors and a resident Ayurvedic Doctor. Glass floor-panels beneath massage tables heighten the sensual experience, whilst a Maldivian sand massage presents yet another new encounter. Other facilities include five over water treatment rooms, Yoga/TaiChi champa, steam rooms, sauna and chill rooms.

Gym

Eating & Drinking

Soneva Gili offers a range of gorgeous venues for fabulous food and drinks but perhaps best of all, there is no extra charge for in villa dining. When the accommodation is this good, why bother to go out!

Main Restaurant
Located on the west side of Lankanfushi offering a superb natural environment to enjoy a relaxing breakfast or romantic dinner. The style of food caters to all requirements and offers a combination of dishes that allows East to meet the West in culinary terms. Meals are predominantly set menu style with the exception of two buffet evenings; Asian Buffet (Tuesday) and Mediterranean Buffet (Friday). Our stay coincided with the Mediterranean Buffet evening and the range and quality of food on offer was truly incredible – everything from freshly grilled crab to hummus and pitta breads and freshly made pasta. Gorgeous – you will not be disappointed. The environment is typical Soneva style, sand on the floor and rustic furnishings creating a magical setting.

By The Sea Restaurant
The restaurant presents a fusion Peruvian-Japanese culinary adventure combining breathtaking views to the ocean with intimate dining for just 26 guests. Located on the elevated top level of a double story facility located on the island amongst the treetops, the restaurant includes a Sushi Bar featuring daybeds plus five tables, each seating up to four guests, and an open kitchen station which can be used for live cooking classes.
The expansive tasting menu includes a quintessential fusion of food; from traditional Japanese to indigenous European, Asian and Peruvian flavours. Local ingredients are used and include the daily catch and fresh organic produce picked from the resort’s own gardens. Guests have the ability to select from an array of signature dishes accompanied by a fine selection of Japanese sakes and an extensive list of wines. Oozing style and vibrant personality, this is one not to be missed.

Main Bar
The Bar is a stunning construction over the shallow lagoon and offers snacks and light meals throughout the day. The lunch buffet at the bar is a very casual experience, where you can create your own menu from the wide selection of fresh salad leaves from the garden, sushi, Mediterranean delicacies, daily catch of fish, imported meats and local spices and herbs. Daybeds and sofas radiate around the circular viewing deck which is left open to the ocean and the passing marine life. Try the signature cocktail – I highly recommend!

The Wine Cellar and Underground Chocolate Cave
Only Soneva could deliver an underground chocolate cave in a manner which works so wonderfully well. Experience the chocolate tasting menu which uses only the finest chocolate, with some very interesting and unusual flavours. Adjoining this is the artisanal cheese and deli room. The highlight though is undoubtedly the exclusive wine cellar. Situated between the restaurant and the garden it is initially visible only by the softly undulating wood-shingled roofline. Entering through a doorway sculptured from copper sheeting and deco-like carved wood embellishment, a softly lit glass staircase descends beneath ground level to the cavernous cellar. Lined with a softly dappled satiny-smooth stucco plaster finish, recessed free-form wine racks display more than 300 labels. Running almost the entire length of the cellar is a six-meter driftwood tree trunk, slotted with eight individual glass table tops and personal wine glass shelves. Wine tasting and wine dinners are hosted by the wine sommelier to the requirement of each guest.
To further the experience, the Sommelier can create a fantastic chocolate and wine pairing which may be enjoyed before or after dinner. Wine and chocolate in paradise – who could ask for more?!

The Island

Located in North Male Atoll, Bodu Hithi is a medium size island measuring a total of 60,511 square metres. A total of 44 Island Villas are dotted around the island perimeter, set slightly back from the beach amongst a relatively secluded tropical garden area. A further 56 Water Villas are located off two jetties, one being the ‘Club Coco Palm’ which is marketed as a separate, more exclusive concept.

Bodu Hithi offers a tempting combination of modern luxury combined with an idyllic, natural Maldivian island. All rooms are equipped to high standards of designer luxury from the free standing jacuzzi bath tub in the middle of the enormous open plan Island Villa, to the private pools and outdoor day beds found in every room category. This contrasts with the island interior which has been deliberately left in a natural, almost jungle like state. The public buildings are built with wood and thatch to complement the natural surroundings. A fabulous infinity pool extends from the deck in-front of Latitude Bar and provides the perfect spot for sunbathing with idyllic views across the Indian ocean

Beaches at Coco Palm Bodu Hithi are generally excellent and extend virtually all round the island. The coral reef encircles the island but snorkelling is best and most accessible between the Water Villas and Aqua restaurant.

Transfer

Coco Palm is situated on the private island of Bodu Hithi in North Male Atoll, a 40 minutes speedboat transfer from Male International Airport. Speedboats can operate at any time of day or night and therefore provides more flexibility than seaplanes which can only fly during daylight hours.

Accomodation

A total of 100 rooms are available on Coco Palm Bodu Hithi, 44 Island Villas and 56 Water Villas divided into three categories. One of the main advantages of this resort is that every villa has its own private pool. A personal bar, flat screen TV with DVD player, music system, espresso machine, private safe and wireless internet connection are standard features in every villa.

Island Villa
My personal favourite, these are stunning, enormous beach villas nestled amongst foliage set just behind the beach. The Balinese influenced villa is open plan in design with a high ceiling and exposed timber beams. The king size bed looks out over a private walled courtyard containing a reasonably sized pool (6.8 x 3 metres), daybed and sun loungers. The room then flows into a bathroom and dressing area with a central jacuzzi bathtub overlooking the ocean. A few steps lead down to a sunken lounge area with sofas, flat screen TV with DVD player, music system and personal bar. Beyond this lies an extensive outdoor deck with loungers, dining furniture and a wonderful outdoor day bed. From here it is only a few steps to the beach and ocean. The whole ensemble is impressively luxurious and simply gorgeous.

Water Villa
Includes a king size bed, spacious bathroom with designer bathtub, shower and double wash basins. The highlight is the spacious outdoor deck, the perfect spot for chilling, sunbathing or taking a dip in the impressive pool. Stunning views across the Indian Ocean and back to the island.

Escape Water Villa
Larger than the regular Water Villas, with an indoor living area opening into a private terrace with private pool, outdoor seating, split level sundeck and direct access to the lagoon.

Club Coco Palm Villa
A collection of 24 water villas located off their own private jetty and offering the ultimate in personal service and privacy. These are the largest and most luxurious water villas at the resort. Each water villa offers total privacy, each one having an outdoor terrace with pavilion and pool, a comfortable bedroom, spacious lounge and indulging bathroom with bathtub and indoor and outdoor showers.
Club Coco Palm Villas are deliberately located furthest away from the main island to enhance the creation of seclusion, exclusivity and privacy. Private club car transfer is available to guests for added convenience. An over water restaurant and bar, The Stars, is dedicated to the Club Coco Palm Villas and butler services are offered on a 24 hour basis.

Facilities

House reef
The house reef encircles the island with 5 entry/exit points but snorkelling is most rewarding between the water villas and Aqua restaurant. Access to the reef is from the beach and reached within around 5-10 metres. Unfortunately, our stay coincided with a monsoon storm so we weren’t able to snorkel the reef but we could see that it would be rewarding and the number of reef sharks loitering along the shoreline was very impressive. A nice touch is that snorkelling equipment can be borrowed free of charge at the resort.

Dive Centre
Dive Ocean Bodu Hithi operate a comprehensive programme of PADI courses and two daily boat dives to around 30 dive sites to suit all levels. Multi-lingual staff are available and transfer times to dive sites are an average of 20-30 minutes from resort.

Coco Spa
The over water spa offers a place of indulgence and relaxation with a range of treatments from Indonesia, Thailand and India. Private treatments rooms have their own pool, bath or relaxation deck. Coco Spa also features two Yoga pavilions and a fully-equipped fitness space over the water, offering a choice of daily classes.

Gym
A well equipped, air conditioned gym is available free of charge. The gym is located in a lovely dedicated over the water building with panoramic views across the ocean.

Departure Lounge
A dedicated departure lounge, Longitude, provides changing facilities, baggage storage and a recreational area with snooker table, table tennis and TV.

Shops
There is a well stocked souvenir shop, Sifani jewellers and Spa Boutique.

Medical Facilities
A 24 hour in house doctor service is available on the island.

Baby Sitting Service
This is usually available on request but should be organised in advance of arrival at resort.

Eating & Drinking

This has to be another key feature for this resort: a total of 8 dining options are available, each offering a unique experience.

Air
This is the main resort restaurant providing a fusion of cuisines served either buffet style or a la carte. Seating can be either indoors or on the wooden deck surrounding the infinity pool.

Aqua
Located over the water, Aqua provides a romantic dining venue serving freshly caught seafood from the Indian Ocean.

The Stars
A private venue for guests staying in Club Coco Palm Villas. The menu offers a blend of cuisines from Asia prepared in a contemporary style. I enjoyed a fabulous meal here with the manager of Coco Palm Bodu Hithi and can vouch that this is dining at its very best. The trio of chocolate mousse was a culinary delight and of particular note is the service which I found to be a perfect combination of impeccable professionalism delivered in a friendly manner.

Latitude
Latitude is the main bar area which is set alongside the beach facing the sunset and infinity pool. A comprehensive range of drinks and snacks are served throughout the day.

Altitude
A unique all glass wine tasting venue located above Latitude. Sample a selection of wines whilst gazing at a spectacular Maldivian sunset – what could be better?….

Breez
An al fresco restaurant set on the beach for casual dining. Note: may not be available during low season or adverse weather conditions.

Tsuki
Located on the first floor of the Club Coco Palm Reception, Tsuki offers a mouth watering selection of Japanese cuisine both for lunch and dinner and is open to all guests staying at the resort.

In-Villa
When accommodation is this good, why go out to eat? A full range of dining services can be served in the privacy of your villa.

And there’s more….

Coming soon is a French Tapas restaurant which will be located alongside Altitude wine bar.

Board Basis available at Coco Palm Bodu Hithi are: Bed & Breakfast, Half Board and Full Board

The Island

The island is one of the largest in the Maldives being 1,400 metres long and almost 400 metres wide. The sheer size of the island allows enjoyable exploration by bicycle or on foot. However, great care has been taken not to over develop the island and only 65 villas have been built. The resort is hidden in the dense, unmanicured vegetation of the island and has a natural yet luxurious style, where guests are guaranteed seclusion. Surrounding the island is a shallow lagoon enclosed by a coral reef, providing crystal clear turquoise waters, which are ideal for snorkelling and a wide variety of water sports.
This resort was opened in October 1995 with the concept of “Luxuriously back to nature, Robinson Crusoe style”. This is the original and undoubtedly still one of the best “No News-No Shoes” resorts in the Maldives.

Transfer

A 25 minute scenic seaplane ride from Male international airport. You will be met at the airport by a Soneva Fushi representative and taken the short distance to the VIP departure lounge at the seaplane airport for your onward flight.
