Below are a selection of our favourite places to stay in Sri Lanka.  We can organise your tour using any combination that takes your fancy! And if your favourite isn’t listed here, just ask us, we’ll probably be able to organise that too.

Colombo

Residence by Uga, ColomboResidence by Uga, Colombo   (Boutique)
Nestled between leafy Park Street and the lakeside Buddhist shrine of Gangarama, the Residence is a unique boutique hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka’s capital city. Built in the nineteenth century by a wealthy barrister, Sheikh Salehboy Moosajee, the halls and ballrooms of this grand Victorian townhouse once welcomed British governors, Indian maharajahs, European nobility and the cream of colonial Ceylon society. Today, the Residence is a unique eleven-suite luxury hotel in Colombo.

Casa ColomboCasa Colombo, Colombo   (Boutique)
Casa Colombo is a 200 year old Moorish mansion that belonged to a wealthy moor trader who used a combination of Italian and Indian mosaic floors, carved arches, moulded ceilings and Moorish styled balconies to create a masterpiece of Moorish architecture right in the centre of the business district of Colombo. Years of neglect almost destroyed this architectural treasure before its current owner Lalin Jinasena a protégé of the famous Mr. Geoffrey Bawa meticulously restored this mansion and incorporated a kitschy–chic design using only locally sourced art and craft to create the present masterpiece ‘The Casa Colombo’.

Around Sigiriya

Jetwing Vil Uyana is situated in a private nature reserve consisting of a wetland system with lakes and reed beds set amongst paddy fields.  Harper’s Bazaar calls it the Best Eco Luxury Hotel in Sri Lanka.  It is a uniquely beautiful and luxurious place to stay in the heart of the cultural triangle, a short distance away from the Sigiriya rock fortress and convenient for excursions to Dambulla, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura.  Accommodation is in a choice of four types of individual villas, all on stilts and situated indifferent habitats; in the lush paddy fields, on a beautiful lake, bordering the forest or among the wetlands.

Aliya Resort & Spa is a brand new resort named after one of Sri Lanka’s much loved mammals the Elephant (‘Aliya’the Sinhalese name for Elephant). The resort’s concept, design and decor is based on the elephant, the central theme of the resort. It is a fitting tribute to this gentle giant, who roams free in the lush tropical forests of this region. The resort is also a short distance from ‘The Rock Fortress of Sigiriya’, a UNESCO world heritage site.

 Kandy

Located on lush verdant land the Stone House transports guests back in time to when life was slower paced. Built around the 1940′s, this colonial mansion was in the olden days referred to as ‘Gal Bangalawa’, which aptly translates to a house built of stone.  The Stone House has a quiet and a completely private location and yet it is only five minute drive away from Kandy city centre and its attractions such as the Temple of the Tooth Relic. With just three rooms and two suites, each one individually designed, staying at Stone House is a very personalised experience.

Nuwara Eliya

Stafford Bungalow, Nuwara Eliya   (Boutique)
Stafford Bungalow is a beautiful heritage bungalow located in the picturesque village hamlet of Ragala, just 40 minutes from Nuwara Eliya – a popular tourist resort town in Sri Lanka. Built in 1884 by a Scottish plantation manager, this holiday home has a lovely colonial charm that has been well maintained over the years with modern day amenities installed. It is the perfect place for couples or families looking for a break away from conventional hotels with plenty of room, privacy and freedom amidst cool weather in the hill country.

 Yala

Named as a tribute to the surrounding milieu of the Yala National Park which houses the highest density of leopards in Asia, Cinnamon Wild Yala sits adjacent to the park boundary and could very rightfully be positioned as an extension of the park. A property that was first established in 2002 as an eco-friendly resort for wildlife enthusiasts visiting the Yala National Park, Cinnamon Wild Yala opened its doors after an extensive re-construction and refurbishment as a world-class game lodge, conceptualising the unique architectural features of the ‘Wild’ into its rustic exteriors and luxurious interiors.

Galle

The Fort Printers is an elegant private hotel situated in the heart of Galle Fort. Originally an 18th century mansion, the house used to serve as a college, and then a traditional printing company; hence the name Fort Printers. It initially comprised of 5 suites, but now offers a total of 13 suites with the addition of two heritage villas in 2013

08_galla_exteriorAmangalla, Galle   (Luxury)
Amangalla is an epitome of a historical landmark beautifully restored to provide top class accommodation for the discerning traveler. Its history dates back to the 17th century when it was used by the Dutch Governor and his staff and subsequently as the headquarters of the Dutch commanders. During the British period it served as quarters for their soldiers. It was transformed into a hotel in 1865 and named the ‘New Oriental Hotel’ which it remained for a period of 140 years. It was taken over by the Aman Resorts group in 2002 and renamed Amangalla. ‘Aman’ meaning peace and ‘Galla’ the Sinhalese name for the city of Galle. Today it is one of the best heritage hotels on the island.
