The Island

The island is one of the largest in the Maldives being 1,400 metres long and almost 400 metres wide. The sheer size of the island allows enjoyable exploration by bicycle or on foot. However, great care has been taken not to over develop the island and only 65 villas have been built. The resort is hidden in the dense, unmanicured vegetation of the island and has a natural yet luxurious style, where guests are guaranteed seclusion. Surrounding the island is a shallow lagoon enclosed by a coral reef, providing crystal clear turquoise waters, which are ideal for snorkelling and a wide variety of water sports.
This resort was opened in October 1995 with the concept of “Luxuriously back to nature, Robinson Crusoe style”. This is the original and undoubtedly still one of the best “No News-No Shoes” resorts in the Maldives.

Transfer

A 25 minute scenic seaplane ride from Male international airport. You will be met at the airport by a Soneva Fushi representative and taken the short distance to the VIP departure lounge at the seaplane airport for your onward flight.

The 65 villas are scattered along the beach and tucked into the lush greenery, providing personal privacy. Each villa has all the luxuries you would expect, whilst the utmost care and creativity has been given to maintain the environment and to reflect the Robinson Crusoe experience. The hairdryer is hidden in the drawer of a coconut-wood desk; the mini-bar, safe, and quadraphonic hi-fi are concealed behind rattan; and the VCD/DVD is delivered in a water-hyacinth basket. Even messages are delivered in bamboo canisters, demonstrating the resort’s commitment to “intelligent luxury”.
The accommodations are placed so that your very own stretch of white sand beach is just a few steps away. There is dense vegetation between each villa, with patios and gardens for secluded enjoyment. Each bathroom opens onto a private garden.

Soneva Fushi is known for its “stimulate the mind” children activities and the 2-Bedroom Crusoe Suites are ideal for families travelling together who also enjoy total privacy in the surroundings of their personal Suite.

Facilities

House Reef: The house reef has an abundance of marine life and is never too far from the shore, making snorkelling here ideal for beginners and children. The resident marine biologist regularly holds guided snorkelling at the house reef on a complimentary basis.  We found this to be particularly interesting and something that we have not encountered at other resorts.

Eating & Drinking

Soneva Fushi take great pride not only in the quality of their food and service, but on the dining experience itself. Options include open-air dining; a seaside moonlit barbecue; a desert island picnic; a simple yet delicious lunch under a canopy of trees or in the resorts organic vegetable garden, or an intimate meal by lantern on a private beach – the settings are as memorable as the cuisine.
The variety of food on offer is vast and special diets plus healthy menus are also available.

The Main Restaurant : comprises of a different menu each night, plus a variety of specialty evenings throughout the week.
Me Dhuniye Restaurant :
Lunch - Choose from our Fusion Cuisine Snacks menu or the Asian Noodle Soup Buffet Station.

Dinner - New world Asian cuisine at its best. Perfect blends of eastern and western food are presented with a permanent a la carte menu. There is a daily changing 5-course Degustation menu available.

Note: Me Dhuniye Restaurant is closed on Tuesdays. On Saturdays, Me Dhuniye Restaurant offers a very special 6-course Gourmet Menu including selected wine by the glass for each course.
The Main Bar : The bar opens at 08:30 hours each morning and remains open until the last guest leaves at night. During the course of the day a range of menus are available in the bar.

The Me Dhuniye Bar : This is the sunset bar and is open from 17:30 hours until the last guest leaves.

Mihiree Mitha Lunch: through experience we have developed an idea of a light lunch of extremely high standard, which is served by the beach in front of the main bar. This makes full use of a sea breeze and the magnificent sea view. The style is “self-service” to enhance the relaxed nature of this meal experience, giving guests the opportunity to set their own pace and try a little of everything. The concept is an international deli experience with a variety of Pizzas, sashimi, sushi, salads, pasta and barbeque cooked to order and Ice cream parlour.

The Wine Cellar : Soneva Fushi boasts a high quality climate controlled wine cellar with a selection of the best – not commercially available – wines from around the world. Guests may either order at the cellar or from our wine list and have the wine of their choice delivered to a restaurant or their villa in time to enjoy with their meal. Wine tasting are available on request with a minimal of 4 guests at 1800 hours at the cellar.

Spa : The Six Senses Spa offers treatments from around the world, a gym and even a workshop where you can learn to massage your partner. As with everything at Soneva Fushi, relaxation amid intelligent luxury is the key.  Voted best resort and 3rd best Spa in the world, Soneva Fushi is our flagship spa, with a unique and stunning spa design based on natural elements and our ‘back to nature luxuriously’ philosophy.

Guests choose from an array of options; rose petal baths, Swedish, Thai or energy and healing treatments, detoxifying treatments, stress management, beauty, pampering, yoga and meditation classes and much, much more.

As these are serious holistic spas, much attention is paid to the individual requirements of guests, who first may undergo an assessment to determine their needs.
Though options are countless, five separate general approaches are on offer: massages, bodycare, beauty treatments, sensory journeys, and mind and body balancing, they all apply to your five senses and beyond – the sixth sense.

Massages feature the familiar Swedish and Thai, as well as the Holistic or Indulgence free-style therapeutic massage using essential oils and a variety of techniques to suit your body. The Harmony face, scalp and shoulder massage uses almond oil to ease tension – the body’s own healing and balancing process. Scalp massage or Indian Head massage, plus foot reflexology or signature foot treatments, induce calmness and total relaxation.

Body care includes anti-cellulite, sunburn retreat, salt body therapy and refining body treatment to soften, revitalize and firm the skin; wraps like the Detox in an “algae cocoon” removes toxins.

Bath care in private treatment rooms includes the Cleopatra milk bath, exotic flower bath, detoxifying essential oil bath and mineral seaweed baths.

Beauty treatments using the 100% natural skincare from Six Senses Sodashi range from the purity facial and man maintenance facial to manicures and pedicures for both men and women, “mascara free” tinting and shaping of eyelashes and eyebrows, and waxing.
